The Accounts Chamber audits the budget, checks the agencies and state organizations, monitors the implementation of national goals, issues conclusions on legislative proposals, interacts with regional control and accounts bodies (CAB), exchanges global audit experience and informs the society about the results of its work. This helps to achieve the mission of the institution and implement the country's strategic development goals.

Audit of the federal budget is one of the key tasks of the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation. This process consists of three stages: preliminary audit, operational analysis and follow-up control. The Accounts Chamber prepares a conclusion for the government's report on the budget execution for the previous year. The document is forwarded to the State Duma and the Federation Council, and the Accounts Chamber reports discovered violations to the law enforcement agencies.
